Smokey and the dear II – Chap. 6, Act 4, Strip 39

Don’t worry, this is going to be the last strip that Mopey spends in the dark – there’s light at the end of the tunnel!

Metaphorically, I mean. Literally, there’s an absence of light at the end of the tunnel, at least momentarily. But then, it’s not really a tunnel, it’s an airduct – which might not have been the most clever choice under the current circumstances, but you can hardly fault Mopey for it. Afer all, going by way of the airducts, if available, is nearly always the best choice in a B-movie. They’re generally spacious, comfortable, well-lighted and let you get to any conceivable part of a massive complex in a fraction of the time it should take you. Admittedly, occassionally they feature death traps as well, but that’s just because the cleverer sort of villain recognizes their great potential for safe and quick travel.

Mopey will be frustrated by the fact that taking the airduct turned out a mistake in this case – even more so since the explosions seem to have started up again, so she could have gone back to following the sound instead of the smoke, and save herself the detour. Well, hindsight is 20/20…while Mopey’s sight currently is 0/0 in any direction.

More on Thursday!
