The Beast with a Million Eyes – Chap. 6, Act 4, Strip 70

Meanwhile, on the battlefield where Mopey and the Professor are locked in Mortal Kombat, Mopey manages to counter the Professor’s literary attack with a skill any of the Professor’s pupils needs to pick up sooner or later: Speed reading. Given how he tends to hand out ‘required reading’ lists that amount to books in their own right, you couldn’t go very far in any of his courses without that skill.

But the Professor’s through with fooling around, and goes for the heavy artillery right away: peer-review! It’s like being judged by the in-clique in high school, only worse! Far worse, in Mopey’s case, because the peer reviewers are anonymous, so there’s no way they’d just coincidentally all suffer the sort of highly humiliating and embarrassing ‘accidents’ that the members of the in-clique at Mopey’s high school coincidentally suffered. Coincidentally. Accidentally.

Perhaps this would also be an opportune moment to point out that my depiction of the scientific process…uh…contains some amount of purely methaphorical elements for effect. In real life, it does not involve black magic…or at least not quite as much of it. Hammering a point home with a glowing mallet taken from you personal pocket-dimension is also considered…somewhat gauche in real life science. These are, in fact, artistic liberties I take to get across what it feels like, not what it looks like. ._.

More on Thurs…uh, Monday!
