Stepping (not up) – Chapter 9, Act 2, Strip 14

Oh god, more short people jokes. Marumaru is really not helping here. I can just hope that the lingering aftereffects of Monday’s PSA still count enough to bring this strip back up to a net zero on inclusivity. >_>

Well, let’s concentrate on the not-anti-midget portion of today’s strip. Gregory summarizes the results of the whole cultural-festival-arc…and they are less than zero, and on the plus side at that. That’s…almost more than I would have expected, based on everything that the effort was lacking.

An undisclosed amount of money, and two new team members. Admittedly, two team members without cricket experience and of dubious athletic ability…but that will only make them fit in with the others more quickly, who all are pretty much in the same boat.

But that still leaves the team two members short, assuming that Marumaru’s assumption regarding the required team size is correct. And assuming he plans to play without the designated hitter rule. Which is probably not as bad an idea as it sounds. In fact, I’ve never heard of a cricket team applying the designated hitter rule. Admittedly, most of the time I hear of a cricket team doing something, I’m completely unable to figure out what it was they were doing, since the report is full of words that aren’t real words.

In summary: two down, two to go. And if the ‘go’ for the latter two doesn’t involve ‘go far away and quickly so’, they will likely be recruited for the cricket team. And then they’ll be down, too.

More on Monday.
