Let the Games Begin! – Chapter 9, Act 3, Strip 13

The day of the big game has finally arrive! That calls for fireworks, even without Biff’s involvement…and even if I’m really running out of runway with regards to keeping the name of the opposing team hidden. But I can drag it out a few more strips, I think, while final preparations are underway.

If I recall correctly, I had already announced that I was going to look for a better airship model for the villain. And even if I didn’t announce it, I was determined to do so. A blimp is fine for practical purposes, but it lacks the style that comes with being a giant, rigid airship. Also, it’s hard to take something seriously that has a name like “blimp”. I’m reasonably sure the guy who came up with the name was secretly a double-agent for the German Kaiser, trying to subtly undermine the Royal Navy’s airship effort in WWI.

And a large rigid airship is also much more comfortable of course. Not that that matters much to the villain…who’s apparently very up-with-the-times in that regard, and has come to the conclusion it’s even more comfortable to stay at home from the get-go, and use a webcam to project his villainy virtually. I’m not saying they’re wrong.

And this allows them to multi-task, watching something else in addition to the game. For some reason it’s kinda pixelated, so I can’t tell you exactly what they’re watching. *squints* Looks kinda like a Martian landscape? So probably something about space exploration. I’ve heard the winds on Mars sometimes howl in a way that sounds just like people having sex.

More on Monday.
