Money can’t buy you love – but it can buy you out of love for sure, and after some serious reflection, Snuka avails himself of that possibility.
Given the amount of blood and sweat covering, metaphorically or literally, every dollar bill Snuka owns, it wasn’t an easy decision to part with 200 of them. Especially if it’s only for the sake of the team. But it was a rational decision – Snuka used his mentat abilities to simulate potential outcomes if the current set of circumstances is combined with the fateful date of Feb. 14th.
In a very large number of those scenarios, the amount of extra money he would have to spend on future dates did exceed the $200 paid to Hiroki today. From the perspective of most simulated hypothetical female targets, the distance between the statuses of “weird, shifty little guy who hangs around in the background” to “dating prospect” is very long, but still considerably shorter than the distance between “weird, flamboyantly gay and exhibitionist shifty little guy who hangs around in the background” to “dating prospect”. The extra distance would have to be made up with extra date spending, so he’s still coming out ahead by paying Hiroki $ 200.
But for all of the seemingly rational analysis he’s doing here, Snuka is apparently still unable to get himself to face the naked truth: That it all doesn’t matter and the universe will simply never allow him to have a girlfriend under absolutely any circumstances – simply because that’s just the kind of relationship that Snuka and the universe have. >_>
