Hands Down, Heads Up? – Chapter 9, Act 1, Strip 32

So here’s the big reveal regarding the Professor’s motives in not assuming his rightful position at the head of the club. And they turn out to be a lot more personal and straight-forward than might have been expected – no 4th dimensional chess going on here, just some determination to make more out of an unexpected second chance than was made out of the first. I find it kinda hard to blame him for that.

Of course he falls full on his face the very next moment…but, well, that’s childhood for you.

The reason for that face-plant being a sudden intrusive thought, centered squarely on the student council president, Mori-senpai. Seeing him in that Professor-o-vision version, it seems quite unsurprising that the Professor was so unenthusiastic about the chance to have regular dealings with him. One can’t help noticing, though, that the Professor’s vision of the guy looks markedly different than the one supplied by Mopey’s BFFs a while ago. One might be tempted to place the blame for that on female gaze, but for the time being I’ll reserve judgement on the reasons for this discrepancy. We will likely soon get a third opinion, anyway, since while the Professor is applying close scrutiny to the texture of the sidewalk, Gregory is still standing in front of that ominous door somewhere else.

More on Thursday.
