Leaks in the Dam – Chapter 9, Act 1, Strip 38

It continues not to be Gregory’s day. He has escaped the clutches of Mopey’s BFFs, that’s true…and apparently without physical damage, only severe psychological one.

But his sense of safety has to remain very tenuous, for it seems that Mopey herself can no longer be relied on entirely – since, inevitably, her two brand-new-friends-since-kindergarten have started to rub off on her to at least some degree. You’d imagine that somebody with Mopey’s abrasive personality would have a high level of resilience against that sort of influence…but ‘high’ doesn’t mean ‘absolute’, and she is forced to spend a lot of time with those two…

So Gregory runs from one interrogation into the next, although this one is much more gentle. And not completely based on a delusion, you could say, since that scene she’s recalled is kinda canon, even if it was a special episode. And she drops the issue right away when asked, which definitely wasn’t the case for her friends. Still, a very concerning development in Gregory’s eyes.

Mopey still has no idea what kind of entity or mechanism caused her to be assigned BFFs, but as you can see she’s spent some time thinking it over and speculating. Still got that scientific mindset, after all.

More on Thursday.

  1. (Just caught up with the comic, that was a long but fun ride)

Well, given that at the end of Chapter 8Mopey referred to Gregory as her and Biff’s ‘shared situationship’ it’s apparent something did happen there.

Gregory should just be happy she hasn’t told her childhood friends about it. The last thing they need is more fuel on the fire.

    1. Yeah, Gregory is in luck, there – it’s quite possibly that Mopey simply no longer remembers that detail, because she’s now too young to be allowed to be aware of something that salacious. XD I’m not sure what the minimum age for a “shared situationship” is in real life, but in fiction it’s definitely safely above high-shool age.
