And the re-introduction of Mopey completes the team…although it’s an indirect re-introduction, based on hearsay only.
Which doesn’t matter, since in this medium hearsay takes the form of definite and detailed visual fact, and is thus indistinguishable from the rendition of reality. So it’s a real re-introduction…and then it even goes one better and introduces two new characters. I considered various different ways for Mopey to meet and befriend these two, but ultimately landed on this variant…it’s hardly the most random thing that has ever happened around here, and it enables Mopey to gain friends without having to twist her personality into something uncharacteristically non-atrocious. And it’s basically the truth on a meta-level: they are her assigned friends because I assigned them to her. Had I done it off-screen, the randomness wouldn’t even have been readily apparent, but I’m shameless that way…
And, yeah…the fact that it’s a perfect, warm and pleasant summer moment makes the Professor realize that Mopey is absent. He isn’t really critical of her, though…he’s just a realist.
More on Monday.
Mopey wears the purple hair surprisingly well.
If anime has taught me anything, one of the two will be brutally killed and the other will turn evil. Either that, or lesbian subtext and permanent minor characters.
One will turn lesbian and brutally kill the other while Mopey will turn evil… assuming she wasn’t before.
Oh shit, I forgot about lesbian subtext! Thanks for reminding me, I think I can still squeeze it in somewhere in the later parts of the plot… ^_^;
