So Bright You Need Shades – Chapter 9, Act 1, Strip 33

With some difficulty, Gregory musters his courage and knocks at the ominous door to the student council room – carefully avoiding to knock on any of the human skulls the door is adorned with, since that wouldn’t be very pious towards the memory of the departed. And probably not particularly attractive a thought to begin with.

The door clearly knows what’s expected of it, and opens very slowly while emitting loud creaking noises. Other doors might take pride in sporting well-oiled hinges, but ominous doors adorned with human skulls and other atrocities take pride in their omni-channel approach to being spooky and disturbing, so the creaky noises are a must. Even in a modern, well-maintained school building.

And see? I was right not to blame the different interpretations of Mori-senpai on female gaze. Gregory seems to see the guy in much the same way as Mopey’s BFFs, and markedly different from the way the Professor imagines him. Not even the overabundance of sparkles surrounding Mori-senpai seems to be specific to a female gaze…Gregory perceives that effect just as strongly, if not more so. The only thing that lessens my pride in having gotten this right is the fact that I wrote the plot, so I knew it all along. >_> Still, I’ve been trying to work on my self-esteem, so I have to take my wins where I can get them.

What fate awaits Gregory in his confrontation with the myth-enshrouded Mori-senpai? Obviously a fate involving tea and biscuits, which already makes it one of the better ones, but beside that… find out on Monday.

  1. Any problem can be solved by finding a right long-haired pretty boy and kicking a shit out of him.

    1. More generally, any problem can be solved by finding the right person to kick the shit out of. Unfortunately, in the real world these persons are pretty good at covering their tracks and they also tend to hire bodyguards. XD
