And now for some entries in the category “rejected designs” – these are actually kinda authentic, in a way. Of course, in reality the whole process of proposing designs and then rejecting or accepting them around here involves only me – so these are really only ideas I entertained for a while (or a moment) before deciding to move into a different direction.
In this case the published strip actually concerned an allusion to the fact that I had entertained the idea to have Gregory turn chibi in the course of his transformation – Latho mentioned the possibility in the final panel, and therefore I had to edit his remark in this alternate version. On top of the Alparka, the chibiness would have made Gregory extra cute…but I felt that that it might have given Mopey an uncontrollable desire to kick him. Her hatred of cute is so strong that it even might have broken through her love-centric brainwashing…
Just joking. No, the real reasons for going with an adult Gregory in an Alparka where, first, that I felt the chibi cuteness would clash with some of the things Gregory would have to do and, second, that I though it was kinda funny that Gregory’s much hyped transformation would consist of nothing else then just putting on an Alparka (which is well known for its transformative qualities, isn’t it?).
So here is a little glance at what could have been, and I hope it’s sufficient to illustrate that it wouldn’t have been a good idea. XD
