A Rip in Time Saves Nine – Chapter 7, Act 2, Strip 8

And at this stage of the trip, even Mopey can’t help but voice her criticism of the safety standards on the Stockades & Skeletons Ride.

You might say it’s a bit hypocritical of her to be suddenly so passionate about fair ride safety, given how the Haunted House attraction she’s organizing on campus leaves dozens of students maimed or worse every Halloween. But…who’s ever said she wasn’t a hypocrite? It’s perfectly in character for her, in my opinion. XD And you have to understand her artistic motives behind the way her Haunted House is set up. Fake blood will only result in fake fear, in her opinion – if you want to instill real fear, you have to use real blood. And her Haunted House is known all over* for real blood and real fear, so she must be doing something right.

To frame her criticism succinctly, she let’s go with some vintage Gothic swearing. Given her solid grounding in Ancient East Germanic languages (considered by the Professor to be one 2948 fields of knowledge you have to master to qualify as a full human being), her vintage Gothic swearing is even more vintage than that of all those poser Goths who don’t even know the Wulfila Bible. >_>

With this strip the action starts to deviate from D&D cartoon intro…that is purposeful, and not just a result of my increasingly erratic memory. On which I didn’t rely to begin with, for if I had tried to reconstruct that intro from memory alone…let’s just say that when I compared my memories to YouTube, I was baffled how much I completely misremembered. It would have been kinda funny, perhaps, but entirely unrecognizable, if I had gone with that. XD

More on Mon…uh, Thursday.

*As proof of that, Lillytown U has been facing lawsuits from all over.
