Advanced Script Leader – Chapter 8, Act 2, Strip 24

One of the good things about numerical superiority – and particularly massive numerical superiority – is how intuitively understandable and self-explanatory the concept is.

I mean “good” only in the context of using the concept in a script, of course. In the context of keeping the morale of your forces up when confronted with numerical superiority – and particularly massive numerical superiority – the fact that the concept is so intuitively understandable and self-explanatory actually works against you.

But, anyway, here in the B-movie there’s no issue with the outcome of the fight not appearing sufficiently inevitable to the audience – the only task is finding a suitable visual metaphor to illustrate the fight. And ‘suitable’ naturally encompasses ‘cheap’, given that we’re talking about Nolan Nobucks here. The idea that won the day was provided by George Geekish – he suggested using the metaphor of one of the classic strategy board-games he loves so much. All it required was printing up a hex map of the location and a couple of sheets of custom counters…or, more specifically, one custom team counter and a couple of sheets of custom monster sloth counters.

The metaphor worked beautifully, especially in relation to its price, and had the same advantages as the underlying concept: intuitively understandable and self-explanatory.

Still, just to be on the safest of safe sides, let me state explicitly: the team lost. ._.

More on Thursday.

  1. Don’t give up hope yet! Maybe Snuka’s luck finally went so low it overflow glitched back to maximum! It could happen, right?

    …Right?

    1. Sure it could happen! Because, what actually couldn’t happen in a B-movie script? XD That’s the main charm of the whole genre, in a way…

Other than that, I’d agree with the “don’t give up hope” bit – for while everything can happen in a B-movie script, this sort of premature and depressing ending would indeed be highly unusual, so a turn-around is highly likely. XD
