I think Snuka’s got some metaphors mixed up there…I don’t think there should be a yellow brick road leading into the shadows of history. Something like a partly overgrown footpath would seem more appropriate. On the other hand, I just wanted to draw Sephy and Cloud jumping and having bowler hats.
And then…well, that’s just how it sometimes goes – a highly complex plan 441 years in the making, based on magic and other implausibilities, still works out perfectly. And then Snuka spoils it all by falling for the oldest trick in the book, just about. That trick’s so old, in fact, it probably predates the invention of writing.
On the other hand, he probably didn’t have much of a choice – he’s the lonely wolf, so he’s gotta fail by default. It would be just too anticlimatic if he managed to take down the evildoer, and all that’s left to do for the other heroes is congratulating him once they finally arrive. He might dream of it working out that way, but deep down, I think he doesn’t really believe in it himself. Still, Dr. Fu has a point when he says that it was a stupid idea to actually reveal that lone wolf status…some back-up is always useful, it might have a deterrent effect even if it exists only hypothetically.
Snuka’s other mistake was understimating Dr. Dutchman Fu, obviously, as he was contractually obliged to do. The Dr. is a Dutchman, after all, so Snuka shouldn’t have that lightly dismissed the possibility he could have some gouda in his pockets. You never know, with a Dutchman.
That other thing the Dr. said is a bit less accurate, though – you can knock somebody out with young gouda, it just requires a modest amount of extra force. I…just thought I should correct that…wouldn’t want anybody to needlessly change their plans for gouda-based violence. Even if you’ve only go young gouda, just try to get the angle right and put a bit of extra ooomph into it, and you should be fine. On the other hand, old gouda is sweeter, so aside from the higher density it’s generaly more fitting for a sucker punch.
