Well, an attempt at personalization of a message was clearly made. As is so often the case, that’s about the best you can say about it.
The odds shouldn’t have been long, actually. Even if a demiurge is not necessarily truly omniscient, it’s still a safe bet that he possesses more and more accurate data on nearly anything than any company or secular entity. And Mopey’s preferences aren’t that hard to figure out, after all. They’re pretty clear, pretty strong and frequently uttered in an unabashed and loud manner. Hard to see how a demiurge wouldn’t have had them in his database.
But perhaps he had the data, and just didn’t analyze it thoroughly enough.
Whatever is the case, I don’t think that that particular disguise is going to help his cause a lot. He might think he’s cleverly playing on Mopey’s satanist leanings, but ultimately he’s now likely going to look even more like a boomer to her than before…
More on Thursday.
Yeah, this is an approach that’s doomed to fail, really. If it wasn’t MOPEY he was approaching, I’d expect the person involved to fall over laughing.
If this was Mopey from earlier stort arcs, I’d consider it a safe bet he would have had more success with Mopey specifically by pointing out that most of the players she faces on other teams will be, stastically, male, and given that this is a sport, they’ll be male JOCKS. And given how complicated the rules of Cricket go, she can likely inflict as much pain as she wants on them and the Refs would be hard pressed to find a reason to penalize her.
Of course, I don’t know how he’ll motivate her now… this feels like the jig is very much up, and I doubt Mopey’s inclined to do a God any favors…
Well, I agree that the Demiurge definitely has his work cut out for him…on the pro side, starting with Mopey provided him with some early warning of how tough this all could turn out to be. And he knows definitely knows how to escalate.
Plus, he does have all of that useful intelligence on her…and if he looks at it in detail, he might find that there is one specific favor that someone like Mopey might be willing to do for a deity. In a similar vein to hurting jocks, but not precisely the same…
Always fascinating to ask religious people why an omniscient and omnipotent being can rack up so many failures.
That was pretty much the question that made the Gnostics come up with the concept of the demiurge in the first place – by positing that the material world had not been created by god, but by a lesser deity, its flaws were easier to accept.
