And while the smoke is still clearing over the scene of the last round in the fight between Father John and his assassinish assailant, let’s take a look at how the other two heroes are doing, who are still pressing on towards their ultimate goal.
Given how El Lightning Blue is a wrestler (or more precisely, luchador) our alien antagonists apparently believed that a larger, more fearsome wrestler would certainly prove his downfall – little did they realize where the real power lies in that business. With the right amount of booking power, all it takes is a little poke – although I must admit that El Rey is ‘selling’ the whole thing exceedingly well. Most others would have restricted themselves to just a little cut and crashing through the announcer table, but the anvil and the bomb are a nice touch…although the nuclear whoopee cushion might have been a tiny bit of a stretch…
Obviously, El Rey was portrayed by a popular videogame wrestler in this strip – you know, the one with the unplausibly plausible mask. The nuclear explosion was portrayed by test ‘Able’. The voice-overs for panels four and five were supplied by a veteran wrestling commentator – one of those guys that’ll say “I’ve never seen anything like this before!”, even if exactly the same thing had happened five minutes earlier. And another time 20 minutes before that…
Not much more to say about this one, I think, but there’ll be more on Thursday. A new voting incentive is up, as well.
