And thus our heroes set out on their journey…their real journey, I mean. Many dangers await them, some of which they can’t yet even begin to imagine!
The road will be long and arduous, and that’s assuming they don’t get lost or take any unnecessary detours – and optimistic assumption, to say the least. But there’s a chance they might not get lost, since they’ve received this nice, hand-drawn map from DM…so they don’t have to rely on whim, or Apple Maps. >_>
I’ve based the style of the map on J.R.R. Tolkien’s map of Middle Earth, obviously. It’s just a lot shoddier, since I’m a far less patient man than Professor Tolkien. Also obviously.* XD
And I’ve based the final panel on…well, reality, and my understanding of human nature. Yes, DM’s intervention has basically settled the question what they’re going to do next, and ultimately they’re going to do exactly what he told them to. But that doesn’t mean they won’t first argue about it some more, just because. It’s part of their established group dynamic that they keep arguing even when basically in agreement – because they all feel that there’s a right way to agree with you, and a wrong way. Plus, Mopey has inherited a character profile from the old D&D cartoon that basically requires her to complain incessantly about any consensus reached.
This strip also concludes Act 2.
More on Thurs…uh, Monday.
* I do share his bad habit of allowing his story to “grow in the telling“, though. XD
