The one sad thing about this strip is that it isn’t as outdated as I once thought it would be. The strip belongs to the first, shorter draft of the chapter, and when I drew it President Bush was still in office. When the new administration came in, I thought I might have to change it – while it didn’t refer to specific persons, I sure hoped the basic problem would soon no longer be around to make fun of. However seeing how that one turned out”…well, let’s say that I ultimately decided I would not have to make any changes to the strip after all…
The other sad thing about the strip is that it shows how outdated I am… my default action to check whether everything is as bad as usual is still turning on the TV, rather than check Facebook or Twitter…
