With the (depressed) state of the team having been dealt with, it’s time to take a look at the state of the wider world. Obviously, it isn’t excellent – after all, there needs to be a reason for the team’s diminished spirits. Fortunately, it’s at least much easier and quicker to cover than the team’s state, thanks to a striking visual metaphor. It really allows you to see just how bad things are at a glance.
I’ve always loved this visual metaphor with the burning map, and I think it works really well here, to illustrate the seemingly unstoppable advance of evil – leaving only the Evergreen Forest untouched, and not likely for long.
A stone table would have been a much better idea, though! Given the fantasy setting, I only had the choices of wood or stone, anyway – but why did I have to pick wood? Stone would so obviously have been the better choice. With the wooden table, making this strip was super stressful, since I had to complete it as quickly as possible – before the wooden table, and therefore my monitor, could catch fire! >_>
More on Thurs…uh, Monday.
