Beyond The Angelic – Chapter 8, Act 2, Strip 125

In order to further streamline the proceedings, I’ve condensed the defeats of army after army of generic monsters into three panels of maps and arrows. Which was made easy by the fact that the underlying narrative is fundamentally simple: the good guys are winning, and easily so. Three panels that saved me from drawing potentially hundreds of generic monsters, a task I wasn’t really looking forward to. >_>

As clearly as those maps convey the narrative, I’ve made Latho restate the obvious in a more colorful form, just for variety and to be on the safe side. Latho obviously knows how to act the part – and look it, too. I mean, the degree to which a pastel-colored, mostly shapeless mass of plush can look martial, grizzled and manly is inherently limited but Latho does what can be done, so the combined result is…
well, anyway…
Naturally, Latho’s taken off the wings for this occasion, angels in uniform are just a myth.
And the dialogue Latho’s come up with is a bit garbled, admittedly. But that doesn’t really matter with that kind of statement – it’s not a matter of what you’re actually saying, but how you’re saying it.

More on Monday.

  1. And on the other side the enemy looks in binoculars:
    – You magnificent bastard, I read your book!

  2. So basically Latho has become Sheriff Ketchum but with pastels instead of black and white.

    1. Which is not a big improvement, but it’s some improvement. And in the case of Sheriff Ketchum, any kind of improvement is welcome. XD
