The Pen is Mightier than the Sword, Indeed. – Chapter 2, Strip 174

I had hoped to be able to give you another sample of Mopey’s legendary goth poetry today, but as you can see, there has been a slight snafu with the fourth panel. Something jammed the projector just at the moment she began to recite. The projectionist was still clutching the controls with a (literal) death grip when we found his lifeless body…

Too bad, though. Her poetry has really developed a lot since the first chapter, if you remember that short sampling of it. Back then, it was already pretty terrible, but a good deal short of lethal. By now, however, her depressive scribblings can not only sap a person of any will to live with a few well-placed verses, apparently they can also extinguish that flicker of unholy lifeforce that animates undead. There are people, however, who have heard her newest work and survived…thanks to timely injections of massive amounts of stimulants bringing them back from the brink of death…

Speaking of zombies and their unholy lifeforce, I wasn’t really sure what sound a great number of undead would make when being vanquished in that way. Screaming seemed a bit out of place for mere shades of persons unwillingly dragged back from beyond the grave…but a dry, resigned “Again?”, while a lot more befitting, didn’t appear quite impressive enough to me. So I went for a kind of rough, tormented, disbelieving hiss, like the one the audience gave at Britney Spears’ VMA appearance…

On a sidenote, the panels I used for the ripped film in panel four are from a lost episode, which would have come before our heroes left the university building.

Anyway, more undead capers in the voting incentive, and next update on Monday.
