The Pink Princess Does Rise, Ultimately And Somewhat Resignedly. – Chapter 8, Act 1, Strip 38

Buoyed* by its recent successes, Latho makes another run at Mopey.

And this time, it drinks deeply from the sweet chalice of success. In a long, silent and purely internal struggle, Mopey has subdued her own mind, made it subject to her own unbending will and finally managed to wrap it around the concept of taking up the scepter of a magical-girl-hood once more. She feels kinda dirty and used, but her more central feeling is one of resignation, and that’s ultimately all that Latho needed.

As for Latho’s observation in the final panel… well, it’s probably seen that sort of thing happen often enough to speak with a certain air of authority about that effect. I feel no need to doubt it, anyway – particularly because similar effects are readily observable in any number of such situations. >_> Not naming any names…

More on Thursday.

*An effect considerably reinforced by its general highly buoyant nature…not to say anything about being buoy-shaped… >_> Let’s just say that Latho looks quite unsinkable in a number of respects.

  1. Clearly, she’s intentionally being so shiny and glittery you can’t see a single detail! The perfect strategy to maintain that final shred of dignity that hasnt’ been annihilated over the course of this comic.
